Cleanings & exams

Regular cleanings and checkups are the foundation of a healthy smile, and the best way to catch small problems before they become big ones.

What happens at a cleaning

Your hygienist removes plaque and hardened tartar from places brushing and flossing can't reach, then polishes your teeth. Along the way they look at your gums and check for anything that has changed since your last visit.

Dr. Di Lisio then examines your teeth, gums, and bite, reviews any X-rays you need, and talks with you about what she sees. If something needs attention, she explains your options before anything is scheduled.

Why it matters

Most dental problems, like cavities and gum disease, don't hurt in their early stages. A checkup is how they get found while they are still small, simple, and less expensive to treat.
